No. 21 Akron Earns 1-0 Victory Over No. 24 Duquesne

AKRON, Ohio – A goal by sophomore Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah) in the 53rd minute (52:23) lifted the 21st-ranked University of Akron men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Duquesne (6-1-2) at FirstEnergy Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
After the two sides played a scoreless first half, Clapier delivered what proved to be the game-winning tally for the Zips (5-2-2) on the strength of his fourth goal of the season at the 52:23 mark. Freshman Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio) and sophomore Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Ill.) earned assists on the tally.
Redshirt freshman GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) garnered his second clean sheet of the season without having to face a shot on goal on the evening.
Clapier led the Zips' offensive efforts recording a game-high six shots, including three strikes on goal, while sophomore Jason Shokalook (Erie, Pa.) and Wan Kamal added three and two shots, respectively. Akron registered 16-6 edge in shots on the night, including a 5-0 margin in shots on goal.
