Akron Nets 5-1 Victory Over Wright State

AKRON, Ohio – The 14th-ranked University of Akron men's soccer team registered four second-half goals en route to pulling away in a 5-1 triumph past Wright State on Friday, Sept. 2 at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Akron (3-0) received goals from junior Josef Paulus (Hinckley, Ohio), sophomore Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah), junior Ryan Kingsford (Herne Bay, England), freshman Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio) and sophomore Santiago Frias (Oakville, Ontario) in the 44th (43:02), 46th (45:33), 63rd (62:26), 76th (75:54) and 90th (89:06) minutes, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Zips struck first in the contest at the 43:02 mark when Paulus delivered his first goal of the season to give Akron a 1-0 lead.
• The Zips posted a 7-1 advantage in first-half shots before Clapier extended Akron's margin to 2-0 with a tally courtesy of an assist from Paulus in the 46th minute (45:33).
• Kingsford pushed the Zips' lead to 3-0 at the 62:26 mark converting a successful penalty kick after the Raiders were whistled for a handball, for his first goal of the season.
• Delivering his first career goal in the 76th minute (75:54) off an assist from sophomore Terence Okoeguale (Pulheim, Germany) was Kamdem.
• Frias capped the scoring in the affair recording his first career tally at the 89:06 mark off a scrum in front of the net. Freshman Mani Diop (Kaolack, Senegal) earned the assist on the goal.
• Akron finished the evening recording a 21-7 margin in shots, including 10-3 in shots on goal. Kingsford and sophomore Jason Shokalook (Erie, Pa.) turned in a game-high four shots apiece for the Zips.
