Akron Sweeps Morgan State to Finish Akron Invitational 2-1

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips volleyball team posted a three-set sweep over Morgan State at James A. Rhodes Arena on Saturday to finish the Akron Invitational with a 2-1 record.

The Zips claimed the three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-11 as Teagan Ochaya led the way with 13 kills and a .385 hitting percentage. Ochaya also anchored the Zips' defense with 14 digs. Faith Johnson and Ellen Kinnaird followed with nine and six kills, while Baylee Vought tossed a team-high 19 assists. Above the net, Jayda Young posted four of the Zips' 10 blocks as Johnson and Karleighana Jones followed with two each.

The Zips opened the Akron Invitational with a 3-2 (25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 15-25, 15-13) win over Cleveland State and fell on the second day to Valparaiso 3-1 (25-21, 14-25, 18-25, 26-28).

The Akron is scheduled to travel to Youngstown State and Cleveland State on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15-16
