Akron Unveils Complete 2022-23 Men’s Basketball Schedule

2022-23 AKRON MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips men's basketball program released its complete 2022-23 schedule in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, a slate that features 16 home games at James A. Rhodes Arena, an appearance in the inaugural Barstool Sports Invitational and the 2022 Cayman Island Classic, head coach John Groce and the league announced on Wednesday.
All game dates and times are subject to change as the league office will announce the MAC basketball television package selections at a later date.
The Zips' 13-game non-conference campaign features seven games at the JAR, starting with the season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 7 against South Dakota State. Akron will also host Morgan State (Nov. 15), Muskingum (Dec. 4), Jackson State (Dec. 11), Wright State (Dec. 14), Maine (Dec. 19) and Concord (Dec. 30).
In addition, the Zips will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the inaugural Barstool Sports Invitational as Akron is scheduled to play Mississippi State on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Wells Fargo Center. The Zips also return to the 2022 Cayman Islands Classic on Nov. 21-23 at John Gray Gymnasium in the Cayman Islands. Eight teams will compete in the tournament, including Akron, Illinois State, Kansas State, LSU, Nevada, Rhode Island, Tulane and Western Kentucky. The Zips open tournament play against Western Kentucky on Monday, Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. (Full Bracket PDF ).
Akron's non-conference away opponents include Marshall (Nov. 30) and Bradley (Dec. 22)
League play is set to begin in January as Akron opens #MACtion against Northern Illinois at the JAR on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Zips will also host Eastern Michigan (Jan. 14), Miami (Jan. 24), Ohio (Jan. 28), Kent State (Feb. 4), Toledo (Feb. 7), Buffalo (Feb. 18), Western Michigan (Feb. 25) and Ball State (Feb. 28).
The conference tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday-Saturday, March 9-11 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays.
