BLOOMINGTON, IND. -Â University of Akron senior Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships placing 14th, 0.02 meters shy of a top-12 finish, to headline the performances of the Zips' men's track and field team at the NCAA East Preliminary Round Championship hosted by Indiana University on Friday, May 27.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Seeking his second career NCAA Championship berth, Eldesouky registered a mark of 51-6.50 (15.71m) on his third and final attempt. He was poised to punch his ticket to the semifinal round in Eugene, Ore., standing in the 12th and final slot, only to see his effort bested by two final competitors.
• Junior Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) posted a mark of 6-6.75 (2.00m) in the quarterfinal round of the men's high jump.
• Sophomore Dimitrije Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) recorded a mark of 48-9.50 (14.87m) in the men's triple jump.
