AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams continue their outdoor campaign this weekend traveling to Bloomington., Ind., site of next month's NCAA East Preliminary Round Championship, to compete at the Indiana Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23.

UP NEXT: In one of the squad's final tune-ups for the upcoming Mid-American Conference Championships, the University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to participate at the Indiana Invitational hosted by Indiana on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23.

The two-day event will kick off on Friday, April 22, with the women's 200 meters at 5:30 p.m. before the men's 10,000 meters rounds out the evening session at 10:15 p.m. The final day of competition kicks off with the women's hammer at 11 a.m. before running events begin at 1:30 p.m. with the men's 4x100 relay. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x400 relay at 5:50 p.m.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The University of Akron track and field teams have garnered recognition for their efforts during the 2022 outdoor season as the Zips are rated in the Event Squad rankings released on April 18, 2022, as part of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index.

Akron is ranked eighth nationally in the men's men's hammer as well as rating among the top 30 in four different events.

The Zips also rate 16th in the men's long jump, 20th in the women's 400-meter hurdles and 23rd in the women's long jump.

The Akron men and women are ranked seventh and 10th, respectively, in the latest Great Lakes Regional polls.

ZIPS RANK AMONG NATION'S BEST IN 2022 TFRRS RANKINGS: Akron has four student-athletes currently ranked in the top-30 nationally by the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) during the 2022 outdoor campaign, led by junior Jacqueline Pokuaah (Akron, Ohio), who is 10th in the nation in the women's triple jump (44-4.75/13.53m).

Additionally, freshman Fegor Clifford (Delta State, Nigeria) is 14th in the women's 400-meter hurdles (57.41), freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) is 18th in the men's pole vault (17-6.50/5.35m) and freshman Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) is 24th in the men's 400-meter hurdles (51.14).

CRACKING THE ALL-TIME TOP-FIVE PERFORMANCES: Freshmen Fegor Clifford and Jimmy Harkelroad each posted a pair of school-record times in the 400-meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational on April 16 to headline nine top-five marks in indoor program history a week ago.

Clifford crossed the finish line first in 57.41, while Harkelroad bested the field in the men's race in a time of 51.14.

Senior Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio) recorded the second-fastest performance in the women's 5,000 meters crossing the line in 16:28.99 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 14.

Sophomore Blake Lucius (Crestline, Ohio) added the No. 3 time (1:48.69) in the men's 800 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 14, while senior Jacob Ondash (Hiram, Ohio) tallied the third-fastest time (3:45.72) in the men's 1,500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 15.

Junior Jacqueline Pokuaah (Akron, Ohio) and sophomore Caleb Mabins (Erie, Pa.) and posted the No. 4 marks in the women's long jump (20-3.75/6.19m) and men's triple jump (50-0/15.24m) at the Mt. Sac Relays and Beach Invitational on April 15 and April 16, respectively.

Tallying the fifth-best marks in program history in the women's 800 meters (2:07.50) and men's hammer (202-7/61.76m) on April 15 at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, respectively, was junior Kyra Keurentjes (Wehl, The Netherlands) and redshirt junior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio).

ANDU AND CLIFFORD GARNER MAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES:
Junior Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) and Fegor Clifford were honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's Field and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, April 20.

Andu and Clifford were recognized by the league for the time this season. Overall, the Zips picked up weekly conference accolades for ninth and 10th times, respectively, in 2022. Â
Andu registered a season-best mark of 6-11 (2.11m) to garner a second-place finish in the men's high jump at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday, April 16. His effort stands as the No. 2 mark in the MAC season this season and No. 43 mark in the NCAA this spring.

Clifford set a school record in the women's 400-meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational on Saturday, April 16, crossing the line in a career-best time of 57.41. Her performance topped the school-record time of 57.61 set by Jackie Siefring six years ago to the day on April 16, 2016. Her effort stands as the top-rated mark in the MAC this season and the No. 14 performance in the NCAA this spring.
