MUNCIE, Ind. – The Akron Zips plated a run in the top of the ninth inning and held on foor the 4-3 win in the last game of the series against Ball State at Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex on Easter Sunday.

Junior Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) and graduate student Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) combined for four of the Zips' five hits as Hara plated the game winning run on a wild pitch. Hara reached on an error due to a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt. Hara finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In the fifth inning, Hara doubled to plated senior Jerry Reinhart (Batavia, N.Y.) for the Zips first run. Arrivo followed with a 2-for-4 effort and an RBI.

Akron added two runs in the sixth as Tate Wargo issued an RBI single to right field, scoring freshman Cameron Benson (Farmington Hills, Mich.). Benson went on to score on a wild pitch to tie the game 3-3.

Akron starting pitcher Brady Biglin (Crestline, Ohio) threw the first for innings, allowing three runs on three hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Junior pitcher Brett Dietrich (Goshen, Ohio) earned the win for the Zips, hurling four scoreless innings and allowing two hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Sophomore Sammy Tortorella (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned the save while giving-up one hit in the final inning before recording three outs, including one strikeout.

The Zips are scheduled to be back in action in Mount Pleasant, Mich. against the Central Michigan Chippewas on Friday through Saturday, April 22-24.
