LEESBURG, Fla.- The Akron Zips (0-5) came up short on the final day of the Northern Lights/Southern Nights Tournament after dropping a 3-2 loss to Penn State and falling 6-0 to Michigan State on Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1: AKRON 2, PENN STATE 3
The Zips capitalized on baserunning and a pair of errors by the Nittany Lions early on and take a 2-0 lead over Penn State. Akron added a run in the first after Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ont.) drove in Angela Cirone (Louisville, Ohio) on a single to right field.

Akron took a 2-0 lead in the second after Madison Dudek (Uniontown, Ohio) singled to left field and sent Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) home after reaching second on an error.

Penn State cut the Zips lead to 2-1 after scoring a lone run in the second, and ultimately took a 3-2 lead by adding two runs in the fourth to secure the 3-2 victory.

Junior P Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) pitched 3.1 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out four batters. Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) put in 2.2 innings of work and registered three strikeouts.

GAME 2: AKRON 0, MICHIGAN STATE 6
Akron struggled to get the bats going in the game against the Spartans as Michigan State pitcher Ashley Miller tossed a perfect game.

Michigan State scored six runs on 11 hits, while seeing two-run innings in the fourth and sixth inning.

Olivia Stefanoni (Hudson, Ohio) pitched 2.2 innings allowing one run on one hit while striking out three, while Olivia Otani (Canton, Ohio) pitched 3.0 innings, striking out four batters and allowing four runs on three hits.

Akron will return to action as the Zips compete in the Clemson Classic on Feb. 25-27 in South Carolina. The Zips will face Saint Francis on Friday, Feb. 25, and take on Boston University and Clemson on Saturday, Feb. 26.
