A League-Best 10 Akron Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

2022 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Akron volleyball team earned a league-best 10 selections as the Mid-American Conference released its 2022 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Akron led the way as seniors Teagan Ochaya (Mentor, Ohio), Lauren Latka (Zionsville, Ind.), Rachel Abramson (Waddell, Ariz.), juniors Faith Johnson (Naperville, Ind.), Anne Lesure (Carmel, Ind.), Jayda Young (Toledo, Ohio), sophomores Genevieve Hara (Imperial Beach, Calif.), Karleighana Jones (White Plains, N.Y.), Ellen Kinnaird (Lewis Center, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Baylee Vought (Fort Mill, S.C.) garnered the yearly honors.

In all, 89 student-athletes from the 12 MAC institutions were honored as Akron led the way followed by, Ball State, Bowling Green, and Ohio with nine student-athletes, while Eastern Michigan, Miami, and Western Michigan all had eight.

To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests for that particular sport.
