Harden Leads Zips’ Efforts at NCAA Great Lakes Regional
November 11 | Cross Country
FINAL RESULTS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.) led the efforts of the University of Akron cross country squad at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Indiana State on Friday, Nov. 11 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
Honaker traversed the 6K course in a team-best time of 22:16.9 to direct the Zips to a 24th-place team finish.
""Individually, Rebekah Harden, Makenna Heimlich, and Maddie Heimlich had great races and finished their seasons on a high note with personal bests," said Akron head coach Dr. Tim Sykes. "As a team, we finished where we were coming in on paper, so only positive steps for this team moving forward. Although it would've been great to finish higher, we are proud of this young group, as this was the first regionals experience for all. We'll take a little down time and start our preparations for an exciting indoor track and field season."
Sophomore Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) was Akron's next runner across the line in a time of 22:51.7 (PR).
Rounding out the Zips' scoring efforts was the trio of sophomores Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) and Halle Sebest (Poland, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Maddie Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio), who recorded times of 23:00.5, 23:16.2 and 23:16.8 (PR), respectively.
Additionally, sophomores Hannah Kerr (Chillicothe, Ohio) and Emerson Rainsburg (Dover, Ohio) added times of 23:42.3 and 24:05.6.
