SERIES HISTORY
Akron is meeting Ohio for the 39th time in program history with the Bobcats owning a 24-13-1 series advantage. In the last meeting between the two schools, Ohio registered a 34-17 triumph past the Zips on Oct. 2, 2021 at InfoCision Stadium. Akron and Ohio last met in Athens on Nov. 10, 2020 as the Bobcats posted a 24-10 victory.
The series between the two schools dates back to the 1912 campaign when Akron earned a 27-0 home victory over Ohio. The Zips and Bobcats have met every season since 1992 and Akron is in search of its first road triumph over Ohio since posting a 31-19 victory over the Bobcats during the 2004 season.
SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio comes into play versus Akron at 2-3 on the campaign, including 0-1 in the Mid-American Conference, following a 31-24 overtime setback at Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Redshirt junior QB Kurtis Rourke directs the Bobcats' attack passing for 1,517 yards, including throwing for 11 touchdowns. Redshirt freshman RB Sieh Bangura has rushed for 266 yards, while running for a pair of touchdowns. The WR quartet of senior WR Sam Wiglusz, senior WR James Bostic, junior WR Jacoby Jones and sophomore WR Miles Cross have hauled in a combined 74 passes for 290, 282, 291 and 203 yards, respectively, and seven touchdowns.
Defensively, the trio of senior LB Keye Thompson, senior S Tariq Drake and redshirt junior S Ben Johnson have combined to record 31, 29 and 29 tackles, including posting 17, 22 and 10 solo stops, respectively. Ohio has tallied 11 sacks and 27 tackles for a loss.
As a team, the Bobcats average 28.8 points per game, while their opponents net 42.0 points per outing. Ohio has thrown for 315.4 yards and rushed for 106.6 yards per tilt.

Akron led 17-10 early in the third quarter, but could not overcome 24-unanswered points by Ohio as the Bobcats posted a 34-17 win to open Mid-American Conference play on Oct. 2, 2021, at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
Akron generated 333 yards of total offense with 19 first downs as redshirt junior QB DJ Irons (Lawrenceville, Ga.) completed 14-of-17 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore TE Tristian Brank (Asheville, N.C.) recorded his first career touchdown reception at Akron.
Irons led the ground attack with 64 of the Zips' 112 total yards gained. Irons carried the ball 16 times, while sophomore RB Blake Hester (Ashland, Ky.) followed with 13 rushes for 51 yards.
Senior CB Jaylen Kelly-Powell (Detroit, Mich.) led the Zips' defense with 11 total tackles and sophomore CB Ronald Jackson, Jr. (Detroit, Mich.) followed with 10 total tackles.

• LB Bubba Arslanian surpassed the 300-tackle plateau for his decorated career at Akron with a 12-tackle effort against Bowling Green on Oct. 1. Additionally, his 16 tackles against Liberty stand as the eighth-best single-game effort in Division I this season.
