Abbi Fleiner Named MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Abbi Fleiner (Reno, Nev.) earned Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week accolades after leading the Zips to a runner-up finish at the 2022 Rocket Classic, the league announced on Wednesday.
Fleiner shared the honor with Bowling Green's Kayla Davis as both players posted 228 (+12) performances and finished fourth overall at the Rocket Classic hosted by Toledo at the Catawba Island Club, Port Clinton, Ohio.
Fleiner opened the tournament with a 78 (+6) score, ranking 10th overall after 18 holes of play. She followed with a 1-under par 71 effort and elevated six spots on the leaderboard, ranking fourth overall with a 149 (+5) 36-hole day total. During the 36-hole day, Fleiner collected three birdies and made eagle on hole No. 17, a 360-yard par-4.
Fleiner maintained her fourth-place status throughout the final 18-hole round by and registered a 79 (+8), while leading the Akron to second place in the team standings with 309-302-312 – 923 (+59) tournament total. During the 54-hole event, Fleiner tallied an eagle, nine birdies and 25 par scores.
