Port Clinton, Ohio – The Akron Zips golf team the Fall campaign with a runner-up finish at the 2022 Rocket Classic fueled by a fourth-place performance from junior Abbi Fleiner (Reno, Nev.) as four Zips landed in the Top 15 on Tuesday.

The Zips completed the 54-hole tournament at the Par-72, 6,118-yard Catawba Island Club with a 309-302-312 – 923 (+59) tournament total.

Fleiner led Akron's scoring efforts with a 228 (+12) total and maintained fourth-place status throughout the final round. She registered a 79 (+7) final score to go along with a 78 (+6) and 71 (-1) performances and tallied an eagle, nine birdies and 25 par scores.

Closely following in scoring was sophomore Daphne van Son (Vlijmen, Netherlands), who moved up one slot to finish sixth overall. Van Son posted a pair of 76 (+4) scores, including her final round effort, mixed with a 77 (+5) for a 229 (+13) tournament total.

Also finishing in the Top 15 on the players' leaderboard were senior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and junior Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio). Pikunas issued a 10^th place showing with 74-80-77 – 231 (+15), while Hahn logged a 81-74-80 – 235 (+19) tally for a 15^th overall finish.

Avery Wright (Jackson, Ohio) and Hridhika Vora (Mumbai, Maharashtra) with 252 (+36) and 254 (+38) scores, respectively. Vora elevated six spots on the leaderboard with a final frame 79 (+7) score.

The Zips are scheduled to be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 6-7 at the Falcon Florida Classic hosted by Bowling Green at Lakewood Ranch Royal Lakes in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
