AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron track and field team is set to host the eighth annual Pole Vault Convention this Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Stile Athletics Field House.

The event will be highlighted by a men's and women's elite pole vault competitions beginning at 10 a.m.

The elite pole vault competition will be headlined by Olympian and former Zips' All-American Matt Ludwig and in all will feature 19 athletes (10 women's competitors and nine men's competitors). The women's elite field will commence competition at 10 a.m. before the men take to the runway at noon. The men's open field will start at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the women at noon.

Tickets are $10 (cash only) at the main entrance to the Stile Athletics Field House.

A pole vault clinic will conclude the day's festivities following the conclusion of the jumping competitions.
