CHICAGO, Ill.- The Akron volleyball team (6-3) lost to Oakland (4-3) in the McGrath-Phillips Arena on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 10-25, 20-25, and 15-25 to close out the DePaul Invitational.

Oakland posted 41 kills for the match, which was 19 more than the Zips' total of 25. Senior LS Jen Durra (Painesville, Ohio) paced the Zips with a team-high total of six kills, while senior MB Megan Kelly (Lakewood, Ill.) tallied five kills.

Senior Emily Weigand (Burton, Ohio) reached 1,000 career-digs after she registered seven digs in the match, while also tossing 12 of the Zips' 14 assists.

Akron returns to action on Sept. 17-18 as the Zips compete in the Maryland Challenge in College Park, Md. Akron will take on Maryland on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. The Zips will close out the two-day event against Columbia at 10:30 a.m., followed by a battle with Stony Brook at 4:30 p.m.
