KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Akron Zips fell 3-0 in the final game against Western Michigan on Easter Sunday as the Broncos claimed the series sweep 4-0 at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field over the weekend.

The Broncos' pitching staff limited the Zips to just three hits in the series finale as Zac Granger, Bryant Shellenbarger and Josh Nowak delivered Akron's hits. All three players scattered singles to the outfield as Nowak set the ball to left field in the third inning, Shellenbarger went up the middle in the fifth and Granger singled to right in the sixth.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Broncos plated two runs on two hits for a 2-0 advantage. WMU added a run in the seventh on a pair of hits.

Akron starting pitcher Taed Heydinger threw six innings, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in the loss.

For the weekend, Shellenbarger led the Zips' offensive efforts with a 3-of-9 (.333) showing from the plate with one RBI and one run scored. Granger and Bradley Goulet also delivered three hits on 11 attempts, while Roy Thurman and Cameron Tilly used 12 plate appearances for three hits each. Connor Regan rounded out the players collecting three hits on 13 attempts with a team-high two doubles and two RBI. Till and Jerry Reinhart each recorded a double while Thurman carded the Zips' lone triple.
