TOLEDO, Ohio – The Akron Zips baseball team fell 6-1 to Toledo in a Mid-American Conference series opener at Scott Park on Friday.

The Zips distributed eight hits and left 13 runners on base while plating one run which was a solo homerun by junior Bradley Goulet (Cottage Grove, Minn.). In the fifth inning with the Zips down 5-0, Goulet only needed one pitch to clear the playing surface and plate the Zips' lone run. Junior Justin Barr (Pensacola, Fla.) and senior Connor Regan ( Sagamore Hills, Ohio) led Akron's offense with a pair of singles. Barr went 2-for-3 and earned a pair of free passes, while Regan scattered two hits on five at-bats.

The Rockets scored four runs in the first inning on three hits and two Akron miscues. Toledo added one run in the second and sixth innings. Wyatt Jefferson earned the win to improve to 7-3 on the season with 4.2 innings pitched, allowing one run on three hits with six walks and four strikeouts.

Akron will be back in action at Scott Park on Saturday, April 17 as Toledo hosts the doubleheader. First pitch is slated for Noon and game two is scheduled to start approximately 30-minutes after the conclusion of game one.
