What's Ahead
The Akron swimming and diving program hosts the 2021 Zippy Invitational at Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium on Friday-Sunday, Dec. 3-5, featuring 10 women's teams and seven men's programs. The three-day event is open to the public and fans can purchase tickets at the door. The Event will be streamed live on Zips Digital Network and live results are available on Meet Mobile.

Regardless of vaccination status, spectators and guests must wear mask that fully covers the nose and mouth at all indoor spaces including lobbies, elevators, restrooms, hallways, stairways and at their seats unless eating or drinking. The University currently requires everyone to wear a mask/face covering while in indoor public areas (not private offices and residences) across all campuses.

The Format:
Two sessions scheduled for each day as the prelims are slated for a 9 a.m. start time and finals scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Finals on Sunday are slated for a 4 p.m. start. Diving events will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Diving Format:
The 1M and 3M diving will consist of 6 optional dives including one from each of the five groups, in any order, without limit on degree of difficulty. The top eight divers will qualify for finals. The finalists will start with a score of zero. The scores on all the dives performed by each of the divers in the finals shall be used to determine first through eighth place. The finalists will perform three dives in the afternoon immediately following the prelims of diving with the remaining three dives done during the finals session.

Swimming Format:
The meet will be a prelims-finals format. Championship finals, consolation finals, and bonus finals will consist of eight swimmers each. Scoring will be through 24th place. The 1650 and the relays will be timed finals. Prelims will utilize flyover starts. During finals the pool will be cleared before the start of each race.

Fans can purchase tickets at the door with cash only. There is an ATM located at the front of James A. Rhodes Arena.
All-session passes: $45 includes heat sheets.
