AKRON, Ohio- The Akron volleyball team (10-16, 4-10 MAC) fell to Northern Illinois on Friday night, 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 14-25, 20-25) at James A. Rhodes Arena.

Prior to the match, seniors Alexis Adleta (West Chester, Ohio), Taylor Sharrits (Concord, Ohio), and Emily Weigand (Burton, Ohio) for honored for senior night.

Adleta registered a team-high 14 kills, while Faith Johnson (Naperville, Ill.) joined in double-figures with 11 kills to lead the Zips' offense. Johnson and Weigan added 35 and 32 assists, respectively.

Akron's defense above the net was effective as the team connected on 30 block assists with Megan Kelly (Lakewood, Ill.) earning 11 block assists. Teagan Ochaya (Mentor, Ohio) had five blocks, while Karleighana Jones (White Plains, N.Y.), Johnson and Weigand each added four.

Johnson and Sharrits recorded 60 of the Zips' 84 digs with each garnering 35 and 25, respectively.

Akron closes out the series with NIU on Saturday, Nov. 6 for a 5 p.m. start. Prior to Saturday's match, seniors Kelly, Jen Durra (Painesville, Ohio) and Hannah Yaconis (Batavia, Ill.) will be honored for senior day.
