What's Ahead
The Akron swimming and diving program is scheduled to travel to Cleveland State University's Busbey Natatorium for the 2021 Magnus Cup Invitational on Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 18-20. The meet features 13 women's teams and eight men's teams.

Participating Teams:
Akron, Bowling Green, California (Pa.), Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State, Cumberlands, Duquesne, Fairmont State, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Ohio, WVU-Tech, Xavier

The Format:
Two sessions scheduled for each day as the prelims are slated for a 9 a.m. start time and finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Swimmers may compete in two individual events per day. The 1650 Freestyle and all relay events are timed final events. No live video for the 2021 Magnus Cup and all results will be posted on Meet Mobile.

Fans can purchase tickets online, call the CSU Ticket Office at (216) 687-4848, or at the door
Each session will be ticketed individually.
Adults are $8/session and youth/senior are $6.
All-session passes can be bought for $40/adult and $30/youth/senior.

About The Akron Zips:
The Akron Zips are off to a fast start, posting an impressive showing at the Zips Classic as Akron set eight meet records and posted seven NCAA D1B qualifying times along with achieving three NCAA Diving Zone qualifying performances. The Zips own a 2-1 dual meet record to date, defeating a pair of Mid-American Conference opponents. Akron registered a 190-110 win over Miami at home and followed with a 161-138 victory at Eastern Michigan. The last time out Akron hosted Big Ten opponent Ohio State as the Buckeyes posted a 228-91 win. Senior Sarah Watson (Winnipeg, Manitoba), and junior Paige Kalik (Irwin, Pa.), swept the MAC weekly awards after the first week of competition (Zips Classic). Watson claimed MAC Swimmer of the Week honors for winning every event she entered while setting three meet records and posting a pair of NCAA D1B qualifying times. Kalik earned MAC Diver of the Week honors with a pair of NCAA Diving Zones qualifying performances en route to first- and second-place finishes.

Covid Protocols:
The meet will follow the NCAA D1 guidelines for unvaccinated Tier 1.
Regardless of vaccination status, masking indoors, except while competing.

Donation Drive:
Our team has partnered with Socks and Clothes for Kids of Cleveland. Donations allow kids to be better prepared for school and everything else that life can bring. New clothing or school supplies can aid those that don't have the resources to get them. The most requested donation items are school supplies and clothing like sock and underwear. Everything must be new, and they are in need for more adult sizes. Our drive will be collecting item donations AND financial donations, so there is no need to go shopping! For more information about the organization go to sc4k.org. Donations will be accepted throughout the entirety of Magnus. The donation bins will be set up by the entrance of the natatorium.
