Akron Opens Home Slate with 2026 Zips Classic

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron swimming and diving program is primed to open the 2026-27 swim season at Ocasek Natatorium by hosting the Akron Zips Classic on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17.
The Zips are coming off a 2025-26Â season that saw them claim the Mid-American Conference Championships for a fifth consecutive season and 12th in the last 13Â seasons.
The Zips Classic field includes six women's teams and five men's teams from Akron, Cleveland State, Ohio State, Denison, Xavier, and Youngstown State.
The action begins on Friday at 1Â p.m. with the women's 1-meter dive and the men's 3-meter dive before the first swimming session of the two-day event begins at 5 p.m.Â
Saturday will feature the second swimming session starting at 10 a.m., before diving begins at 2:00 p.m., which will be followed by the final swimming session at 6Â p.m.
