AKRON, Ohio- The Akron volleyball team (8-10, 2-4 MAC) lost in three sets, 15-25, 18-25, 18-25, to Toledo (14-4, 5-1 MAC) inside the James A. Rhodes Arena on Saturday evening.

Senior Alexis Adleta (West Chester, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Genevieve Hara (Imperial Beach, Calif.) led the Zips' offensive efforts with seven kills each. Hara's seven kills was a career best. Senior Emily Weigand (Burton, Ohio) dished out a team-high 27 assists and notches two service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite the Zips jumping out to a 5-2 lead, an 11-2 run in the middle of the set by Toledo gave the Rockets a 16-7 lead. Toledo closed out the first set by winning the final three points. 11 Toledo kills contrasted with Akron's eight proved to be the difference in set No. 1.
In the second, Toledo took a 20-13 lead amid an 8-2 run. The Zips produced their best hitting percentage of the match in the second set with a .276 percentage. Hara paced Akron with three kills on four swings for a .750 hitting percentage. Toledo used a 4-0 that claimed the 25-18 No. 2 set victory.
With the score notched at 13 all, the Rockets used an 8-2 run that put Toledo ahead for good, 21-15. Akron was able to cut into Toledo's lead to 24-18, but an ace and a kill secured the set, 25-18, and sweep for the Rockets. Adleta posted three of her seven kills in set No. 3.
