MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- Akron's Alexis Adleta (West Chester, Ohio) and Teagan Ochaya (Mentor, Ohio) combined for 30 kills in the four-set loss (20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 23-25) in the McGuirk Arena on Friday evening.

Adleta and Ochaya paced the Zips' offense with 19 and 11 kills, respectively. Defensively, the Zips recorded eight total blocks with Adleta, Megan Kelly (Lakewood, Ill.) and Karleighana Jones (White Plains, N.Y.) each having two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Chippewas used a .405 hitting percentage to take the first set, 25-20. Adleta led Akron with four kills. After back-to-back kills from the Zips evened the score at 16-all, CMU used a 5-2 run to pull away, and would complete the No. 1 set victory, 25-20.
Despite being out-hit, Akron took the No. 2 set, 25-23. Both teams traded points up until the 23-23 mark of the set. A kill from Weigan and Adleta secured the set victory. Adleta added two of the final three points for the Zips and tallied six total kills.
The Chippewas held Akron to just a .075 hitting parentage in the No. 3 set en route to a 25-17 victory. Eight Akron errors proved to be costly as the Chippewas only committed one. CMU used a 6-1 run in the middle of the set to take a 15-8 lead. The Chippewas ended the set on a 6-0 run.
The fourth and final set saw five tied scores and four lead changes. After trailing 20-16, the Zips were able to string together a 6-1 run that put Akron ahead, 21-20. The Chippewas capitalized on four kills and score four of the last five points en route to the No. 4 set and match victory.
