CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron track and field redshirt junior Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio) was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Willis had a dominating start to his indoor campaign registering a trio of victories to lead the Zips to a triumph at the Akron Quad on Friday, Jan. 15.
Willis captured a pair of sprints for the Zips recording the fifth-fastest time in Akron indoor history to win the men's 60 meters crossing the line in 6.73, before taking the men's 200 meters in a time of 21.38.
His efforts are ranked 11th and 14th, respectively, in the NCAA this season, while also representing league-best times.
