AKRON, Ohio - We continue updates from across country and the world in what we like to call Postcards from The Zips. Up next, from men's golf is Akron redshirt freshman Cade Kreps (Boardman, Ohio).
Â
First off, are you and your family doing well?
Â
Yes, we have been staying active around the house and we are doing well. Some things we have been doing are working out, playing poker, and watching movies.
Â
With reflection and time spent with your family back home, have you been able to wrap your head around what has occurred or is it still too soon?
Â
It's still too soon, to go from the middle of our season to doing nothing has been crazy. I am starting to adapt and get on a schedule, but I still can't wrap my head around this.
Â
Talk about the importance of having your family around and knowing that you are safely back home with them?
Â
My family has been very supportive and has kept me entertained. It has been great to see my two younger brothers Cameron (freshman at Clemson University) and Ryder (sophomore at Boardman High School). We enjoy playing ping pong.
Â
What is daily life like back home this week knowing that you're expected to stay inside your homes?
Â
Daily life has been very boring at times. I wake up, work out, do schoolwork, and then try to find things to keep me entertained.
Â
Discuss your feelings as the events of last couple of weeks were occurring that ultimately led to the cancellation of winter and spring sports, training, and you returning home?
Â
It's obviously heartbreaking for all of us. Our team had big goals and we were on the right track to achieving them. I am sick for all of the seniors who had their careers cut short.
Â
Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time?
Â
We keep in touch as much as possible through Snapchat, text, and the occasional FaceTime.
Â
Can you describe what it has means to be a Zip, especially during this time?Â
Â
I am very proud to be a Zip. The Akron community has been so supportive and caring over this difficult time.
