AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron baseball team returned home to Skeeles Field at the Lee R. Jackson Athletics Complex to battle Urbana to a 1-0 decision on Wednesday afternoon.

Overall, the Blue Knights improved to 2-10 on the season, while Akron fell to 1-12 overall.

The teams were scoreless through 8.1 innings. In the top of the ninth, Urbana's Marcel Toney smacked the ball over the left-centerfield fence for the first home run at Skeeles Field this spring. Â

Both teams registered four hits. Akron had no fielding errors, while Urbana had one.
Â
Chase Jessee (1-0 overall) got the win. He pitched 2.0 innings, striking out one and walking one. Matthew Radka (0-1 overall) took the loss for the Zips. He pitched the final 1.1 innings, striking out two.

Akron travels to Lipscomb for a three-game series on March 13-15.
