CLEVELAND — With 48 hours to go until the Mid-American Conference teams hit the baseball diamond to begin the 2020 season, the MAC announced its preseason baseball coaches' poll on Wednesday.
Â
Central Michigan, which received three first-place votes, was the preseason favorite to capture the 2020 regular-season MAC title. Kent State and Ball State followed, separated by one point, while Miami was fourth.
Â
Northern Illinois was fifth, followed by Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, and Bowling Green.
Â
Newcomer Akron was selected 11th. The Zips' program is back in action this spring following a four-year hiatus. Only Buffalo (2000-17) does not currently field a baseball team.
