Varsity “A” Seeks Nominations for 2019 Hall of Fame Class

AKRON, Ohio– The University of Akron's Varsity "A" Hall of Fame committee is seeking nominations for its 2019 Sports Hall of Fame class.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Hall of Fame inductions will be held during Homecoming weekend (Oct. 11-13). The 2019 Class will be inducted at a brunch ceremony and be honored at the football game against Kent State.
To be eligible for UA's Sports Hall of Fame, nominees must meet the following criteria:
√ Former Zips' student-athlete with All-American and/or All-Conference accolades
√ Must have earned a bachelor's degree
√ Must be 10 years removed from eligibility expiration
Coaches and athletics administrators with 10 years of service to UA are also eligible for Hall of Fame induction.
Currently, the UA Varsity "A" Hall of Fame has inducted 340 athletes, coaches, and administrators. In addition, there are 41 Kenneth "Red" Cochrane Meritorious Service Award recipients and 30 Mike Krino Varsity "A" Achievement awardees.
Deadline for applications is June 15. Previous nominees remain on the ballot for future consideration.
