Akron Wraps Up Regular Season Play with Wildcat Spring Invitational

AKRON – The Akron men's golf team traveled to Malvern, Pa. for its final regular season tournament, the Wildcat Spring Invitational, on Monday-Tuesday, April 8-9, hosted by Villanova.

"It's the final regular season event, and as I told the guys, we will finish this season strong," Zips' head coach David Trainor said. "We were able to get outside on the course last week, and I think the results will be there."

The 36-hole event will be played at the White Manor Country Club, a par 71 course that spans 6,733 yards. Fans can follow all the both 18-hole rounds via BirdieFire Live Scoring.

Akron is the only Mid-American Conference member to participate in the 19-team field that includes host Villanova, Akron, Binghamton, Bucknell, Cleveland State, Colgate, Delaware, Drexel, Fordham, Iona, Lafayette, La Salle, Lehigh, Monmouth, Rhode Island, Siena, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, St. Peter's, and Wagner.

The Zips' starting five includes senior Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), junior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio), and sophomore Fabian Sunden (Sweden), redshirt freshmen Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio) and freshman Ignacio Puente (Seville, Spain).Â

The Wildcat Spring Invitational is scheduled for two 18-hole rounds of golf, beginning with a shotgun start on Monday at noon, followed by Tuesday's shotgun start at noon. Fans can follow all the both 18-hole rounds via BirdieFire Live Scoring.
