LONG BEACH, Calif. – University of Akron senior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) won the women's pole vault eclipsing 14-3.25 (4.35m) to headline the Zips' performances at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State on Thursday, April 18.
In a battle with South Dakota's Chris Nilsen, the 2018 NCAA pole vault champion, senior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) placed second in the men's pole vault with a mark of 18-1 (5.51m).
Freshman Sara Foster (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) registered the fifth-best performance in outdoor program history placing third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 60.49.
Senior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) recorded a season-best time of 13.31 to finish fourth overall and first among collegians in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) posted a season-best mark of 178-1 (54.29m) to earn a third-place finish in the women's discus.
Junior Marcques Gibbs (Darby, Pa.) finished fifth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 46-3.50 (14.11m), while junior Brandon Hochbein (Sarver, Pa.) recorded a career-best mark of 22-9 (6.93m) in the men's long jump to place sixth.
The Zips return to competition on Friday, April 19, taking part in the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.
