Howey in the Hills, Fla. – Senior Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) and junior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio) led the Akron men's golf team scoring with a pair of 146 (+2) scores as the Zips fired a 311-305 – 616 (+40) at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on Saturday.

Grayson carded consecutive 73 (+1) scores after 36 holes at the Mission Inn Resort & Club's El Campeon course, which is a Par 72 that stretches 6,793 yards. He carded 14 pars and two birdies in the opening round to finish ranked 29th overall. Grayson climbed five spots on the leaderboard after a second 73 (+1) ledger. He recorded 14 pars and an eagle in round two, finishing tied at 24th overall.

Also entering Sunday's final round at 24th overall is McFarland. His performance mirrored Grayson's as both posted back-to-back 73 (+1) rounds. McFarland tallied 13 pars and two birdies in round one and entered the second 18-holes at 29th overall. McFarland also elevated five spots to 24th overall with 11 par scores and three birdies.

Redshirt freshmen Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio), freshman Ignacio Puente (Seville, Spain) and sophomore Kaleb Smith (Mansfield, Ohio) rounded out the Zips' scoring. Bayerl and Puente used 163 (+19) scores to enter the third and final round tied at 97th overall while Smith stands at 106th with a 173 (+29) tally.

Kansas State currently leads the team scoring with an 8-under par 568 team effort as KSU's Jeremy Gandon, 70-67 - 137 (-7), and Central Florida's Bobby Bai, 67-70 - 137 (-7), are tied for the top spot on the leaderboard.
