CLEVELAND, Ohio – Akron diving competed in the Magnus Cup Invitational on Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 hosted by Cleveland State, as all six Akron divers had the opportunity to compete against over 10 schools.

"Overall the team performed very well. Megan and Kamryn picking up their zone cuts and Andrea breaking the 300 mark twice on 3m stand out, but Paige, Katelyn and Emily were great as well. This event allows us to make an assessment on where we are in our training. We can be very happy about the things we are doing well, and have a good idea of where we need to improve moving forward" said diving coach Chris Medvedeff.

Akron kicked off the competition with a strong showing in the 1-meter dive, as two divers qualified for postseason competition. The Zips were led by Kamryn Goodrick (Chesterland, Ohio) who qualified for the postseason with a score of 270.95. Close behind her was junior Andrea Bugariu (Shelby Twp., Mich.), who scored a 266.25.

The Zips continued to perform at a high level, carrying their momentum into the 3-meter dive, as three divers qualified for postseason competition, rounding out the top four divers in that competition. Leading the way for the Zips was Bugariu who placed second with a score of 306.15. Placing third was newcomer Paige Kalik (Irwin, Penn.) who scored a 286.75. Rounding out the top four was sophomore Goodrick who was close behind with 281.50.
