Zips Take First Place at the 2025 Zippy Invitational

AKRON, Ohio - Akron added several strong performances on the final day of the Zippy Invitational on Sunday at Ocasek Natatorium to claim first-place.
Akron took first with a score of 1,779 points while Cornell (1,702) and Buffalo (1,694) rounded out the top three.
In the women's 200-yard breaststroke, the Zips placed two swimmers in the A final. Madelyn Bosler finished runner-up in 2:15.15, while Claire Cox followed closely in third at 2:15.19. Efthymia Mazaraki added a ninth-place overall finish, winning the B final in 2:18.69
Akron also put together a key scoring swim in the women's 200 butterfly, where Addy Soehnlen took first with a time of 2:00.18.
The Zips closed the meet with a third-place finish in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Cora Spetz, Avery Knight, Claire Cox and Brienne Trumpower stopped the clock in 3:26.18.
These results added to earlier highlights, including Knight's win in the 200 backstroke, Ada Szwabinska's victory in the 100 freestyle, and Elle Couture's runner-up finish in the 1650 freestyle.
What's Next?
Akron heads to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Buffalo Diving Invite from January 9-11, and Toledo, Ohio, on January 10 to begin 2026.
