AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8, as they host the Mid-American Conference Fall Preview at Silver Lake Country Club in Silver Lake, Ohio.
"Silver Lake will be a great final test for us this Fall," head coach Jenny King said. "It is always great to compete so close to home and we are looking forward to having friends and family come out to support us. Most importantly, we are excited to get some extra competitive rounds in on the course that will host the MAC Championship in the Spring. Getting familiar with the layout and the greens will be key for Spring."
The MAC Fall Preview is an annual event which is usually hosted by the same institution that hosts the MAC Championships in April. This week's 54-hole tournament features 36 holes of play on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday at the par 72 course that stretches 6,177 yards.
Monday's opening round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start with continuous play through 36 holes. Round two will start approximately at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday's final round is also scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
The field consists of nine teams and 19 players playing as individuals including Akron (host), Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan and Youngstown State. In addition, Kent State joins the field with three players playing as individuals while the other 16 individual participants are form the competing institutions.
All eight Akron players will compete at the tournament as the starting five consists of sophomores Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) and Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and freshmen Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio), Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) and Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio). The additional Zips, playing as individuals, are senior Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.) and junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio).
There will be no live scoring for the event. Results will be posted at the conclusion of each round.
