AKRON, Ohio – The No. 12-ranked University of Akron rifle team is set to host Morehead State and Nebraska this weekend. The Zips take on both teams on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8:30 a.m. before facing Nebraska for a second time in a dual, Sunday, Nov. 4 at 9 p.m.
Last season, Akron fell to Nebraska, 4,661-4,640, while defeating Morehead State, 4,649-4,632,
Against Morehead State, senior Caleb Lloyd (York, Pa.) and sophomore Wyatt Openshaw (Parkton, Md.) led in smallbore with scores of 568 and 576, respectively. The Zips were led in air rifle by junior Cierra Terrizzi (Dallastown, Pa.).
In a dual against Nebraska a season ago, the duo of junior Anthony Jackson (Seven Valleys, Pa.) and Lloyd paced Akron in smallbore with a score of 572. Junior Lauryn Cinadr (Brunswick, Ohio) led the air rifle competition with a score of 589.
Next weekend, the Zips remain home as they compete in the final weekend of the Zippy Open, Nov. 10-11.
