No. 12 Akron Rifle Welcomes John Jay and Canisius This Weekend

AKRON, Ohio – The No.12-ranked University of Akron rifle team is set to host John Jay and Canisius on Saturday. The contest will begin at 9 a.m. at Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range in Akron, Ohio.

Last weekend, Akron fell to No. 1-ranked West Virginia, 4,704-4,662, in its season opener. The Zips 4,662 points broke their previous program-high score of 4,657 set last season against Navy.

Akron is led in smallbore competition by freshman hotshot Antonio Gross (Webster, N.Y.) who fired a match-high score of 584 last weekend. Senior Caleb Lloyd (York, Pa.), as well as juniors Kera Kaufman (Delmont, S.D.) and Anthony Jackson (Seven Valleys, Pa.), all fired the same score of 576 to round out the top four for Akron.

Junior Lauryn Cinadr (Brunswick, Ohio) also looks to continue her shooting success as she directs the Zips in air rifle after shooting a team-high score of 590 out of a possible 600.
