Powells Point, N.C. — In the final event of the Fall season, senior Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) and redshirt freshmen Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio) led the Akron men's golf team to a 306-288-292 - 886 (+34) team total at the 54-hole ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
Grayson and Bayerl finished tied for 22nd overall with a pair of 217 (+4) tallies. Grayson fired rounds of 72 (+1), 71 (E) and 74 (+3) while Bayerl carded scores of 77 (+6), 68 (-3) and 72 (+1) at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club.
Freshman Ignacio Puente (Seville, Spain) finished third in scoring for Akron and tied for 40th overall with 77-73-73 - 223 (+10) ledger, while junior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Kaleb Smith (Mansfield, Ohio) finished the scoring at 80-76-73 - 229 (+16) and 84-82-75 - 241 (+28), respectively.
The Zips finished 13th overall in team scoring as Campbell led the 18-team field 34-under par 818 and UNC Wilmington followed for runner-up at 15-under par 837 total. Campbell's Jesper Svensson and Brett McLamb took medalist and runner-up honors with 16-under 197 and 9-under 204 scores, respectively.
The ODU/OBX Intercollegiate concludes the Akron men's golf Fall season.
