TDS PRESEASON MEN'S UPPERCLASSMEN TOP-100 LIST RELEASE

AKRON, Ohio - A pair of University of Akron men's soccer standouts in senior Sam Gainford (Liverpool, England) and sophomore Nick Hinds (Plantation, Fla.) have been named by TopDrawerSoccer.com to its Preseason Men's Upperclassmen Top-100 list.

Gainford checks in at No. 24 nationally, while Hinds was tabbed at No. 96.

A year ago, Gainford registered four goals and three assists on the strength on team-high marks in shots (58) and shots on goal (21) en route to earning second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors.

Gainford ranked third in the MAC in shots (58) and shots per game (3.05), eighth in goals (4) and points (11) and 10th in goals per game (0.21), while leading the MAC in league-only games in goals (0.60) and points (1.60) per contest and rating second in game-winning goals (0.20) and third in assists (0.40) and shots (3.40) per tilt. Additionally, he rated 48th in the NCAA in 2016 in shots per game (3.05).

Hinds appeared in 21 games for the Zips as a freshman in 2016, including garnering 19 starts. He registered five goals and four assists on the strength of 34 shots, including 12 on frame, en route to earning second-team All-MAC honors. Additionally, TopDrawerSoccer.com named him to its men's soccer preseason Division I Best XI freshman-team squad as well as to its men's soccer Midseason (No. 5) and Postseason (No. 25) Men's Freshman Top-100 lists.

The 13th-rated Zips are set to open their 2017 campaign on Friday, Aug. 25, as Akron travels to Orem, Utah, to face No. 16 Utah Valley in a 9 p.m. ET tilt.

Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Discounted general admission season tickets for Akron faculty/staff are also available for $48 and must be purchased in person or on the phone. Additionally, general admission family plans ($200), which include a combination of two adult and two youth tickets or one adult and three youth tickets, are available for the fall at this time.

Individual single-game tickets for all of Akron's home matches are now on sale.
As another option, all Akron Alumni are eligible to purchase the Alumni all-sport season-ticket package for $175, which includes general admission season tickets for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and a reserved seat for football.
Group experiences that include discounted tickets are on sale now for a minimum of 15 people. These include line-up buddies when the players are announced and chances to be ball boys during the game.
