2016 USTFCCCA DIVISION I ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM HONORS
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Akron men's and women's cross country team under the leadership of head coaches Lee LaBadie and David Gramlich received recognition for their efforts in the classroom as both were honored by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as Division I All-Academic squads for the 2016 campaign.
"We are so proud of our athletes for earning this honor, truly they are "student-athletes"," LaBadie commented.
The Akron women's squad recorded a 3.61 GPA and garnered recognition for their work in the classroom for the third straight year.
The Zips' men's team boasted a 3.28 cumulative team grade point average, marking the seventh-consecutive year in which the men's squad achieved USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades.
Overall, 242 women's teams and 189 men's teams earned All-Academic honors.
