COLUMBUS, Ohio- Â The University of Akron swimming and diving team split on a tri-meet with Dennison and Ohio State on Friday Night in Columbus, Ohio. The Zips topped Dennison with a score of 92-91, but fell to Ohio State, 109-92.

In the 200 Medley relay, the Akron relay team made up of freshman Ally Wharton (New Albany, Ohio), sophomore Morgan Waggoner (Freemont, Ohio), sophomore Jessica Bonezzi (Wooster, Ohio), and Ellie Nebraska (Columbus, Ohio) clocked in at a time of 1:48.27.

In the following two events, Akron posted a top-three time. In the 1000 yard freestyle with frshman Brooke Lamoureux (Trenton, Ontario.)finishing third with a time of 10:16.28.0, followed by senior Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain) who placed third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.41.

Bonezzi continued the Zips top-swimming with a third-place finish in the 200 clocking in at 2:05.34. In the 50 free, junior Sadie Fazekas  (Windsor, Ontario) finished the sprint for the Zips with a 23.44 time, with senior Susan Franz (Canton, Ohio) closely behind with a 23.70 time.

With the competition transition to the three-meter diving event, junior Carly Crail (Edgewood, Ky.) led Akron with a total score of 247.20, with sophomore Katey Applin (Dansville, N.Y.) scoring a 238.55.

After the diving, Akron came out striking in the 100 freestyle with Fazekas posting a top-three time, clocking in at 50.90. In the 200 back, the Zips continued their success when junior Madison Myers  (Akron, Ohio) clocked in with a top-three time and placed second with a 1:59.85 time, followed by Nebraska with a 2:06.39.

The Zips had success in the 200 breaststroke when Marrero touched the wall first, completing the event at 2:14.96. Freshman Brooke Lamoureux  (Trenton, Ontario), completed the 500 freestyle with a 5:01.16 time, with junior Emma King  (Centerville, Ohio) closely behind touching the wall at 5:11.30.

In the 100 fly, the Zips came out on top again with freshman Paulina Nogaj recording a 55.05 time, with Bonezzi clocking in at 57.56.

Closing out the diving completion in the one-meter dive, Applin completed the event with a final score of 240.30, with Crail closely behind with a 222.65 score.

In the final two events, Akron came on top finishing the 200 IM with the top-three spots. Paloma touched the wall first, with a 2:0401 time, followed by Pash and freshman Paula Garcia  (Madrid, Spain). Akron came out on top in the final event, touching the wall before Dennison with the team of Nogaj, Fazekas, Nebraska, and Myers with a time of 4;24.92 in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Zips squad closes out the weekend against Eastern Michigan on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start in Ypsilanti, Mich.Â
