Lexington, Ky. – The Akron Zips women's golf team finished the 28th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in 14th place after carding a 939 (+75) team 54-hole total.
The tournament was scheduled as a three-day event, but due to weather reports for Sunday, it was shortened to two days. Akron played 36 holes on Saturday.
During the second round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Akron moved one spot up the ladder after carding a 312 (+24) team score, bringing their its 36-hole total to 623 (+47) for 14th place overall.
Senior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) and freshman Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) led Akron's scoring during second round play with a pair of 74 (+2) scores, while junior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) followed with a 79 (+7) effort. Rounding out the scoring were senior Mallory Ethceberry (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and freshman Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) with 85 (+13) and 91 (-19) scores, respectively.
During the final round, Pikunas recorded a 77 (+5) to finish the 54-hole event tied for 22nd overall with a 224 (+8) total. Nicholson recorded a 78 (+6) for a 231 (+15) finish, while Her totaled 81-strokes for a 234 (+18) tournament total. Etcheberry and Pearce completed the scoring for the Zips with 254 (+38) and 261 (+45) scores.
