Akron, Ohio -- The Akron Zips women's golf team will travel to Lexington, Ky. for their final tournament of the fall season on Friday-Sunday, Oct. 6-8 at the 28th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by Kentucky.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament is scheduled to be played at the par-72, 6,221-yard University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course, a well-known venue for Zips' head coach Jenny King having played her collegiate career at UK.
"We are looking forward to ending the season at a great event on an excellent golf course," King said. "It's a golf course that I've personally played many times, and I believe this team is capable of scoring low."
The 16-team field includes four teams that competed at a NCAA regional tournament last season, as Kentucky will host Akron, Ball State, Bradley, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Murray State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Toledo, Western Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
After leading the Zips' overall scoring efforts for three straight tournaments, freshman Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) highlights the Zips' starting five.
Junior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) follows after leading Akron's final round scoring a week ago, while freshman Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) makes an appearance in the third spot. Rounding out the lineup are seniors Mallory Ethceberry (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and Pader Her (Holt, Mich.).
"As usual, the practice round will be a big key for our preparation," King said. "We will give it our best effort, trust in our hard word, and play relaxed golf."
All three rounds are schedule to tee off at 9 a.m. Tee times for Monday's first round are set as Her will get the Zips started at 9:54 a.m. on the course's first hole, followed by Etcheberry (10:03), Pearce (10:12), Nicholson (10:21), and Pikunas (10:30).
