AKRON, Ohio- The Akron swimming and diving team opens Mid-American Conference competition with a dual meet against Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Ocasek Natatorium.

The Zips and RedHawks met last season with Akron posting a 176.5-123.5 victory over Miami (Ohio). Akron notched 11 first-place finishes and swept the top-two spots in five different events. Akron posted the fourth-fasted time in the nation in the 400 Medley Relay (3:42.58).

The Akron squad is coming off an impressive season-opening performance in the pool against Youngstown State on Oct. 6. The Zips defeated the Penguins by a score of 188-98, with the help of 15 first-place finishes in 16 events.

Freshman Paulina Nogaj (Radom, Poland) was named the MAC Swimmer of the Week after her four first-place finishes winning three individual events and a relay.
