VOTE FOR TYLER SANDA AS NCAA ELITE 90 FAN FAVORITE
AKRON, Ohio - The third annual NCAA Elite 90 Fan Favorite contest is officially underway and University of Akron men's soccer redshirt junior Tyler Sanda (North Royalton, Ohio) is among those vying to become the fan's choice as the winner of the vote as the favorite Elite 90 winner for the 2015-16 campaign.
Voting is now open and fans are encouraged to vote for Sanda once per day until 8 p.m. ET on Friday, July 15, when the field will be narrowed down to 30 semifinalists and the vote totals reset. Registration is not required, but fans may only vote once per day per computer
The winner will be unveiled on July 22.
In its just completed seventh year, the Elite 90 award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and a designated member of the squad size at the championship.
Sanda appeared in 14 games for Akron this past fall, registering a pair of goals, while adding two assists. He maintains a 3.954 GPA majoring in biology.
Elite 90 Fan-Voting Schedule
First Round: Tuesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. ET until Friday, July 15 at 8 p.m. ET
Semifinals: Monday, July 18 at 10 a.m. ET until Tuesday, July 19 at 8 p.m. ET
Finals: Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. ET until Thursday, July 21 at 8 p.m. ET
Winner celebrated: Friday, July 22
