Seven First-Place Efforts Highlight Zips' Run at All-Ohio Outdoor Championships

SATURDAY RESULTS | FRIDAY RESULTS
ATHENS, Ohio - Seven first-place performances marked the final-day efforts for the University of Akron track and field team at the All-Ohio Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, April 9.
The Zips' registered four first-place finishes in the women's competition, while adding an additional three titles in the men's meet.
Capturing victories for Akron in Saturday's women's finals was redshirt freshman Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia), junior Samia Bell (Cincinnati, Ohio), sophomore Jackie Siefring (Covington, Ohio) and junior Daniella Johnson (Gahanna, Ohio) in the 1,500 meters (4:42.70), 400 meters (58.92), 400-meter hurdles (60.89) and 200 meters (25.81), respectively.
Taking home titles for the Zips' men's squad was redshirt junior Demetris Hazly-Ward (Akron, Ohio), redshirt senior Sean Weems (Maple Heights, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Taron Slone (Columbus, Ohio) in the triple jump (45-3.75/13.81m), 400-meter hurdles (55.37) and 200 meters (21.98), respectively.
Additionally, Akron received five second-place efforts from junior Becky Szabo (North Olmsted, Ohio) in the women's pole vault (12-9.50/3.90m), freshman Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) in the discus (150-6/45.89m), sophomore John Harris (Pickerington, Ohio) in the high jump (6-5/1.96m), redshirt junior Sean Poholski (Barberton, Ohio) in the 800 meters (1:57.40) and junior Miles Baldwin (Cincinnati, Ohio) in the 400 meters (49.25).
Freshmen Shawnn Foster (Cheektowa, N.Y.) and Kamar Majid (Akron, Ohio) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Zips in the heptathlon and decathlon. Foster posted a seven-event cumulative score of 3,911 in the heptathlon, while Majid tallied 5,955 points in the 10-event decathlon.
Akron returns to action next Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, as the Zips host the Northeast Ohio Quad at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
