The Zips recorded the lowest scoring tournament since the program's inception in 2008, posting all three rounds on the all-time scoring list. In addition, Akron received a handful of individual best performances.
The 2015 squad entered the team record book in three categories on Monday, Sept. 28., including the best individual team round in school history and the best two-round team score ever.
The Zips opened the tournament with a 301 (+13) that was good for 10th on the all-time scoring list, and they were not done. Akron followed with a pair record-breaking performances as the starting-five achieved the program's best team score with an even-par 288-stroke effort, replacing the previous individual team round record of 293 (+5) set on March 16, 2011 at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam. On Tuesday's final round, UA used a 298 (+10) team total, which ranks sixth all-time, to finalize the best 54-hole tournament score in school history. "We played solid today," head coach Jenny King said. "We reflected on what we did well during the 36-hole round. But, we had a job to finish, and they finished strong. Although the pins were tougher, we stayed focused and the results showed consistency across the board."
Mizzou earned the tournament championship with scores of 280, 269, and 276 for an 825 (-39) tournament total, while the Tiger's Jess Meek captured medalist honors with three-straight 67-stroke performances to finish 15-under par 201.
