LEBANON, Ohio – The Akron women's golf team concluded the 2015 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship in eighth place on Sunday.
The Zips ended the championship event with a score of 970 (+106) after posting a final-round 342 (+54) on Sunday. Kent State won the MAC Championship by 10 shots with a score of 918 (+54). The win also gave the Golden Flashes a point in the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge standings. Akron and Kent State are now tied at 5.5-5.5 with four sports remaining.
Laura Murray, Frida Fougberg and Pader Her all finished in a tie for 30th place with identical three-round scores of 246 (+30). Murray, playing in her final collegiate event, carded a score of 90 (+18), while Fougberg and Her posted rounds of 88 (+16) and 81 (+9), respectively.
Mallory Etcheberry and Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva closed the event in a tie for 33rd place with three-day tallies of 247 (+31). Etcheberry closed play with a round of 87 (+15) while Velasco-Villanueva ended the day with an 86 (+14).
The championship event ends the 2014-15 season for the Zips.
