Kettering, Ohio – The Akron Zips golf team climbed two spots in the final 18-hole round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational with a tournament-low 295 team score as Kaitlin Kormuth and Maisarah Hezri landed in the Top 15.
Akron posted a 311-306-295 – 912 (+60) tournament total after 54-holes of play at the NCR Country Club - South Course (Par 71 • 5,854 yards). The Zips finished tied for fifth in team scoring with Mid-American Conference foe, Toledo.
Kormuth led the squad in scoring with a 74-75-77 – 226 (+13)total to finish tied for 12th overall. She completed the 54-hole tournament with 32 par scores and five birdies.
Hezri finished second in scoring for the Zips, tying for 15th overall on the players' leaderboard with a 78-73-76 – 227 (+14) total. Hezri ranked fifth among the field with 34 par scores and added four birdies.
Hridhika Vora fired the best final round scoring performance for Akron with a 1-under par 70 total. Her 1-under performance was 1 of 2 low-scores of the day as Western Michigan's Lauren Lupinek went 2-under par 69 for the field low tally. Vora was 1 of 5 players to record an eagle for the tournament and registered 10 par scores with four birdies for the 1-under par effort. She climbed 22 spots on the leaderboard with her final-round performance to finish tied for 27th overall with a 80-80-70 - 230 (+17) total.
