LEBANON, Ohio – The Akron women's golf team is tied for fifth place after day one of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship on the par-72, 6,191-yard Shaker Run Golf Course.
The Zips are tied with Eastern Michigan with a score of 315 (+27) and are six shots outside the top three. Ohio leads Kent State by two shots after posting a round of 14-over 302.
Three Zips sit inside the top-25, led by junior Frida Fougberg. Fougberg posted a round of 4-over 76 and is tied for eighth place. She will open play on Saturday just four shots off the lead.
Pader Her, playing in her first MAC Championship, is tied for 16th place after carding a round of 78 (+8). Mallory Etcheberry rounded out the trio of Zips inside the top-25, ending the day in a tie for 21st place (80, +8).
Laura Murray carded a round of 81 (+9) to end the day in a tie for 27th place. Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva rounded out the scoring five in 40th place (85, +13).
The second round will begin at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, with players teeing off from the first and tenth tees. Fans can follow all the action live via Golfstat Live Scoring.
