CLEVELAND- Akron junior starting pitcher JT Brubaker (New Carlisle, Ohio) has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Toledo, the league office announced Monday.
In a 10-1 win over the Rockets in game one of a doubleheader on Sunday, the New Carlisle, Ohio native, threw 8.0 scoreless innings for the Zips to tie his career-high innings pitched and pick up his second win of the season. He allowed just two hits and fanned a career-high seven batters while walking two.
En route to his eight scoreless innings, Brubaker retired 13 batters in a row between the second and fifth innings, allowing just one Rocket to reach base throughout the opening five frames. He only allowed more than one runner to reach base in a single inning once and faced a total of 27 batters.
